Description: Today we take a day to remember how fortunate we are and give back a little to those who are not as fortunate as us. So, today we will help fight hunger with Philabundance.
Philabundance is a nonprofit organization founded in 1984 as a food rescue organization to help ensure that perishable food that otherwise would have gone to waste was instead provided to people in need. It is the region?s largest food bank and food rescue organization, providing food to partner member agencies in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer Counties in New Jersey.
Philabundance works to fight hunger by collecting food from the Philadelphia Food Distribution Center, wholesalers, distributors, supermarkets, restaurants, local growers, importers, and community organizations. Last year, they distributed more than 22 million pounds to provide food for approximately 100,000 people per week, at an aggregate cost of less than 25 cents per meal.
We will help in their Distribution center.
