Pulpit Rock Evening Hike & Observatory Visit
Operated by: TerraMar Adventures

Hamburg, PA 0
Join us on Saturday, October 12 for an evening hike to the summit of pulpit rock followed by a visit to observatory park to use the telescopes for a view into the solar system.
$25 if you pay by September 30, 2013. $30 October 1 - event day.
We will commence our hike before dusk (meeting at 3:30 p.m. at the trailhead) and return from the observatory after the sun has set.
This is a rigorous hike, so if you have not hiked all season, please select a different hike to join. We will be racing the setting sun and will keep a steady pace to the peak. We will, of course, take a brief breather at the peak, to appreciate the spectacular view overlooking the Delaware Water Gap.
The hike from the trailhead, to the peak and then down to the observatory will require about 3 hours to complete.
When we reach the observatory, we will be given a private tour of the observatory and a brief power-point astronomy talk. You will have plenty of opportunity to ask the resident astronomy expert any questions you may have. Then, we will have the opportunity to use the telescopes to make some observations of our own.
The visibility through the scopes is dependent entirely upon the weather. We have scheduled the hike and solar observing for October 12, with the hope that the evening sky will be clear. We’ll have a chance to view Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and more, if the stars align right that evening. In the event that fog, thick cloud cover or rain move in on that date and create visibility limitations, we will be able to view more with our naked eyes than with the telescopes. Inclement weather will cancel this event.
Due to the limited size of the observatory and number of telescopes, this event strictly is limited to 15 participants.
