Winter Survival
Come out and learn some vital cold-weather survival skills at the single longest running search and rescue ranger school. Wintertime back-country adventures can be beautiful and thrilling. By spending one day with us, you will be able to handle some of the biggest threats that you may ever face. We will teach you cold-weather survival priorities, survival psychology, water procurement, fire-building, mobility, map reading, navigation, avalanche rescue, shelter building, signaling and first-aid. We will cover basic and advanced equipment with a strong emphasis on prevention and preparedness.
In a combination of classroom and practical training, you will get the most from your day and return home with confidence, and a few more tricks up your sleeve, for when Mother Nature turns ugly.
Cold-weather emergencies can kill you in minutes. A day with us could make the difference between saving your life or the lives of your friends, and people dividing up your gear and saying, “They died doing what they loved.” Don’t be that guy or girl!
Bill Gibbons, founder and president of the GOALS Adventure Racing Association, has decades of experience teaching search and rescue, and survival. He has participated in search missions across the country, in every type of weather. You can be sure that the skills that he is showing you are solid.
