Hike and Pie!

Operated by: TerraMar Adventures

Event Leader: Rico

Delaware Water Gap

Kittatinny Point Visitor Center
Dunnfield, NJ 7860

Skill Level: 5 - Includes 1150 ft elevation change. You must be able to hike uphill for 1.5-2 hours with reasonable breaks, but we're going to try and move relatively quickly on this one. You must be in good shape to do this hike.

Description: For our second Hike and Pie of the season, we're climbing up the Appalachian Trail to Sunfish Pond in the Delaware Water Gap. From the Dunnfield parking area, we'll pass by a beautiful creek on our way up to the pond. The trail climbs through a densely wooded area until we reach the pond. From that point, we can opt to continue around the pond, adding a mile or so to the hike.

After the hike, it'll be a good thing we just exercised because we'll be on to the most perfect piece of pie heaven you will ever find. I love pie and this little shop is one of the most beautiful tributes to life well lived I can ever imagine. Pie everywhere: apple pie, pecan pie, peanut butter pie, shoo fly pie, chocolate walnut pie, pumpkin pie. Imagine a farmer's market where every single table is absolutely covered with pies.

Price includes: pie and guides certified in wilderness first aid.

We've capped this hike attendance. Why do we put a limit on the number of people for hikes? Three reasons; safety, conservation and fun.

  1. We limit the number to promote safety.

  2. We limit the number to promote Leave No Trace principles. Though many of the trails we take are very well established, we want to limit our impact on the environment. So, it is much better for us to go in with 15 people and not tromp 50 in all at once.

  3. Finally, we limit the number of people because we believe bringing a giant heard of people into the woods ruins one of the fundamental reasons we go into the woods, the peace and intimacy of nature. Large groups are loud and intrusive both to animals and to other people seeking a serene, quiet experience. Thanks for understanding!
